Barcelona is a one-of-a-kind place if you’re into scootering, skating, bmx, etc. I’m so grateful that Extreme Barcelona/Urban World Series always gives me an opportunity to make it out to their event. This year it went crazy! To start, the venue is right on the water with an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea, now fill the venue with 20,000+ screaming fans, tons of food trucks/vendors, public skateparks & of course, some good ol' Estrella and you’re ready for a weekend of your life!
Scootering is the main event here in Barcelona & let me tell you, the boys did not disappoint! Watching the best in the world go head to head under the lights on Saturday night for street finals was something I’ll never forget. Best moment was when Carlos Rivera stepped up for his last best trick attempt and the crowd started chanting the local Barcelona kid's name “Caaarrlos...Caaaarrlos..” that energy was just what he needed because he dropped in stomped a backside 270 downside full heel to front lip on his last try and you already know the crowd went crazy screaming his name and starting the chant once again.
Finishing in 3rd place was Guifrè Obradors, another local Barcelona shredder, in 2nd place we had the boy Kai Saunders AKA Saundezy, and coming out in first we had Matis Neyroud. The next day it was time for the park boys to show everyone what scootering is about. The top 10 for finals had a few unfamiliar names & faces but they definitely stepped up to the challenge and had everyone on there toes including world champ Jordan Clark. Top 3 at the end of the day was all UK! Sitting in 3rd was Jayden Sharman, 2nd place was Jamie Hull & walking away with yet another Extreme Barcelona title was Jordan Clark.
After the boys threw down it was time for the Fernando Park Battle. Fernando was a beautiful human being who was always wearing a smile on his face. Unfortunately, we lost Fernando not too long ago but his spirit will live long in the hearts of us scooter riders. We love you Fer! And the park battle was for you as it will be from here on out every single year. I can’t even begin to explain how crazy this park battle was. Legsweep dono flips, 540 front flair, a crazy fakie front flip, lots of crashes & of course, the 360 front flip drop in off the 10ft+ wall into a 6 or 7 ft quarter pipe from Esteban Clot! A well deserved W for the young man, he walks away €1,000 richer & with a nice shiny gold ring to commemorate the late grate Fernando.
